Born and brought up in the coastal town of Mangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. He did his schooling from Mangalore and did his study from the only ICSC school of the city, which he feels proud about. Sharan said he used to feel privileged to go to such school. As a kid once Sharan asked his mother why do we need to go to the school, as he doesn’t like to study, his mother said, people study to be rich.

During his childhood, Sharan was not allowed to purchase anything above 100 Rupees. He really wanted to buy Beyblade Burst but it was costing over 300 rupees, which he eventually got from his parents but this incident made hi realised how important money is in real life.

Since then Sharan started working hard on his study and used to finish all of his homework at school. He used to think that he is a brilliant student, which he was and always got top ranks in his school. Sharan Hegde used to think one day he will become a scientist and change the world.

He went to Expert, a top school in the city where the study start early at 7 am till 7pm in the evening. This school used to be the first choice among the toppers of the state. Expert has a reputation as one of the best Cram school in Karnataka. Sharan was in the first batch of the school, where the toppers of the toppers used to study. He had 93% in class 10^th board examination and in that batch the average score used to be above 94 or 95 percentage.

It was the time when he realized that he is not even among the top student and his ego came down and Sharan realized that he is nobody in the class, and most of the time he was not in the top five and he may not be smart enough to be a scientist. This was the time he thought to join engineering courses but Sharan felt that IIT was too tough for him and he should join NIT.

Sharan got in to Civil but his parents wanted him to join the Mechanical branch. The YouTuber wanted to join Computer Science but because his sister was already in the branch and his parents wanted to diversify the branches, Sharan said in an interview. He eventually got selected in RV Collage in Mechanical branch and PES Collage for Computer Science. He did his engineering in Mechanical from RV Collage in Bangalore.

Sharan was part of the academic club, which used to build Formula One racing cars from the scratch. It gave him a great exposure and opportunity to travel several countries in the world and he was part of that group, which did podium finish and became the first Indian team to do this.

Sharan Hegde Career and YouTube Journey

It all started, when he was in the third year of his engineering in RV Collage, Bangalore. Sharan had no vision about his career he was just going with the flow and attending his classes. This was the time, when he started thinking about what’s he really wants to do in his life. During this time he used to be very frustrated, clueless and worried about his life.

Sharan Hegde started doing research about what are the other career options are available in the market based on his interest. This was the time when he came across Management consulting and Investment banking and found it interesting and fascinating. Instead of doing Masters in Technology, he decided to pursue in the new field, which he thought would give him the opportunity to work with the team and solve various business problems.

Sharan started to interacting with various people in the consulting sectors before his campus placement. He used to submit his resume to all those companies websites and got disappointed after not getting a positive reply. He had MBA in his mind and meanwhile he was also looking for a job as a management consultant.

Sharan finally got an offer from KPMG and started his financial journey. He feels, you should always prepare for an interview and do you research before applying for any job. During pandemic he had extra time, and utilized those time to do some projects for UN. At the same time he was also consuming lots of YouTube contents and came across a YouTuber called Ali Abdaal, who was a productivity content creator.

Hegde was inspired by Ali Abdaal, he thought if being a doctor he can create courses and sell, why can’t he. This was the time when Sharan started his YouTube journey and started guiding people about personal finance. He created his YouTube channel Finance With Sharan and started promoting his videos on Instagram.
